Since its September 2024 release, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 has received consistent updates, especially for its multiplayer modes. For players eager to explore new content early, here’s how to access the Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 public test server.
How to Access the Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Public Test Server

Note that while Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the public test server is exclusive to PC players. Console players cannot access it. PC players can easily enable the test server through Steam settings without navigating complex processes.
To join, PC players should locate Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 in their Steam library, where the public test server appears as a separate entry below the main game. Access requires owning the game on Steam, as the test server is not available otherwise. Once found, players must download and install the test server, which uses distinct files separate from the main game.
What’s Available on the Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Public Test Server

The Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 public test server introduces fresh content for PvE and PvP modes, including new weapons, modified gear, and customization options. PvE mode features a new map, relaxed weapon restrictions for classes, and tweaks to online gameplay. This content, especially PvE additions, remains in development and may evolve significantly before its official release.
The test server enhances online gameplay with improved matchmaking for both PvE and PvP modes, focusing on better team balancing. PvE matchmaking reduces duplicate class selections and includes a prestige leveling system. PvP mode offers expanded lobby customization to enrich the multiplayer experience.
Mods installed for Space Marine 2 on PC will not work in the test server build. While players can create and customize content using available assets, this content won’t transfer to the main game due to the test server’s standalone nature. There’s no confirmation on whether progress or content from the test server will carry over to the main game, though it’s unlikely.
