What could be more exciting than a cyberpunk action RPG? Imagine an action RPG experienced from a motorcycle! While the core gameplay may feel familiar, how else would you describe such a vibrant, eccentric, and distinctly anime-inspired title as Kaleidorider, the upcoming release from Tencent's Fizzglee studio?
At first glance, several aspects of Kaleidorider become apparent. The game is set in the near-future city of Terminus, which is under threat from interdimensional invaders known as the Integration. These beings originate from an alternate dimension called the Sea of Unconsciousness. Unsurprisingly, the only force capable of stopping them is the group known as the Kaleidoriders.
This motorcycle-riding ensemble of heroines (because, naturally, they're predominantly female) can't face this threat alone. They require assistance from a relatively ordinary human possessing Kaleido Vision to locate and combat the Hysteria creatures spawned by the Integration. This is precisely where you enter the story.
Kiss, kiss fall in loveIt's impossible to examine Kaleidorider without noticing its prominent anime influences. Whether it's the flashy character designs, the self-described Doki-Doki romantic storyline, or the over-the-top action sequences on display, this game essentially brings a classic romance-action anime to life.
That observation isn't meant as criticism. The trailer alone showcases plenty of thrilling action, complemented by lavish 3D graphics, impressive visual effects, and the intriguing integration of motorcycle mechanics into core gameplay. If you appreciate stylized action experiences, Kaleidorider will likely appeal to your tastes.
While awaiting Kaleidorider's release to determine if it meets expectations, why not explore beyond traditional app stores? This week, Will investigated QuickVenture to evaluate what this action RPG brings to the table.
