Sony has announced that starting January 2026, PS4 games will be phased out from PlayStation Plus Essentials monthly games and the Game Catalog, with a primary focus on PS5 titles.

“As we transition to PS5, PS4 games will become a less central benefit, appearing only occasionally in the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games and Game Catalog,” Sony stated. This change will not impact monthly titles already claimed, though Game Catalog titles “will remain playable until removed during the monthly refresh.”

“We’re committed to enhancing the PlayStation Plus experience, optimizing benefits like exclusive discounts, online multiplayer access, cloud storage for game saves, and more,” Sony continued. “With our focus shifting to PS5, we’re excited to introduce new PS5 titles each month for you to enjoy.”
