By choosing the Switch 2 bundle that includes *Super Mario Kart World*, you save $30 compared to buying the console and game separately. Keep in mind, the bundle comes with a digital copy, so you won't receive a physical game cart or box. If a physical copy is a must-have for you, consider spending the extra $30 on the standalone game.
Yes, the MSRP Is $79.99
When purchased on its own, *Mario Kart World* is priced at $79.99, which is $10 more than the standard price for AAA PlayStation and Xbox games this generation. While I'm not thrilled about the price increase between console generations, I understand that game development costs have risen significantly. Hopefully, the expansive nature of *Mario Kart World* justifies the additional expense.
What Is Mario Kart World?
*Mario Kart World* is poised to be the most ambitious Mario Kart game to date, featuring an open-world environment reminiscent of the *Forza Horizon* series. In Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from the end of one track to the start of another. The game's tracks are dynamically affected by weather and time of day, influencing visibility and traction. You're free to venture off the beaten path and explore "virtually everywhere" in the Mushroom Kingdom, as stated by Nintendo. Each race accommodates up to 24 drivers, a first for the series.
A new mode, Knockout Tour, challenges you to race across the open world, passing through checkpoints with specific placement requirements. Fail to meet these, and you're out of the race. For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode allows you to explore at your own pace, team up with friends, and capture memorable moments with in-game photography.
