Nexon has officially announced the closure of the global version of KartRider: Drift, a game that initially launched in January 2023 across mobile, console, and PC platforms. The game is slated to shut down later this year, affecting all platforms where it is available globally.
Fortunately, the answer is no. The Asian servers in Taiwan and South Korea will continue to operate. These servers are set for a revamp, though specific details about the upcoming changes or any plans for relaunching the global version remain undisclosed. KartRider: Drift is still available on the Google Play Store, allowing players to experience the game before its global shutdown later this year.
Since its launch, KartRider: Drift aimed to provide a seamless racing experience worldwide. However, players encountered several challenges that hindered the game's success. A major issue was the heavy automation in gameplay, which many felt reduced the racing experience to a repetitive grind. Additionally, technical difficulties such as poor optimization on certain Android devices and numerous bugs further impacted player satisfaction. Despite efforts to improve, the game failed to meet expectations, prompting Nexon to shift focus back to the PC platform in Korea and Taiwan. This move aims to realign the game with its original vision and hopefully achieve greater success.
