Nintendo Delays Japanese Release of Alarmo Alarm Clock Due to High Demand
Nintendo has announced a postponement of the general retail release of its Alarmo alarm clock in Japan. The delay, attributed to unexpectedly high demand exceeding current inventory, affects the initially planned February 2025 launch. A new release date has not yet been specified.
The company's official Japanese website cites production and stock limitations as the reason for the postponement. While the global launch remains scheduled for March 2025, the impact on international stock levels is currently unknown.
To address the immediate demand, Nintendo Japan is implementing a pre-order system exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in Japan. This pre-order period is slated to begin in mid-December, with shipments expected in early February 2025. The precise start date for pre-orders will be announced shortly.
The Alarmo, a gaming-themed alarm clock featuring sounds from popular Nintendo franchises like Super Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon, has proven incredibly popular since its October release. Its initial success led to a rapid sell-out in physical stores and the temporary suspension of online orders, initially replaced with a lottery system. The unexpected surge in demand has forced this adjustment to the Japanese release schedule.
Further updates on pre-orders and the general sales launch will be shared as they become available.
