Overture DLC Not Linked to Base Game's Final Cutscene, Director Confirms
May 06,2025Author: Christian
Ever since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, fans have been buzzing with speculation about the mysteries it might unveil. At the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN uncovered one mystery that the DLC won't address: the shocking twist in the base game's final cutscene.
For those who haven't yet experienced the end of Lies of P, here's a spoiler-free summary: the concluding cutscene hints at potential future directions for the Lies of P universe with a dramatic twist. This has sparked intense fan speculation about its implications and whether the upcoming DLC might offer some answers. However, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi clarified that this particular cutscene is not connected to the DLC. He cryptically added, “Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future.”

Neowiz has already confirmed a sequel to Lies of P, suggesting that the mysterious cutscene might be setting the stage for Lies of P 2. However, details about the sequel remain scarce, and Choi refrained from dropping any hints during our conversation.
“What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you.”

The scene in question, which we discussed with Choi, is the infamous Dorothy scene. As detailed in our previous coverage, the final cutscene shows Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning his intent to “find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy.” The camera then reveals the iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers of Dorothy from *The Wizard of Oz*, hinting that future *Lies of P* content might incorporate other public domain fairy tales. However, how and why this connection exists remains a mystery, and it won't be explored in *Overture*.
SPOILERS END HERE.
While the Dorothy scene won't be explained in the DLC, Choi did offer some insights into what *Overture* will contain. He encouraged fans to replay the base game to uncover hints scattered throughout that foreshadow the DLC's content:
“When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience,” Choi stated. “A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in the expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that, are going to be included in the expansion.”

Choi also noted that some fans are already close to the mark with their theories, as he regularly engages with fan discussions online.
Additionally, we learned a few more details about the DLC: Choi estimated that it would take experienced players between 15-20 hours to complete. The DLC will be accessible after reaching a "certain" chapter in the game and will remain available until the end. As previously announced, Overture serves as a prequel, with the protagonist being transported back in time to Krat just before its fall. Expect new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi kept the specifics under wraps to maintain the surprise for the release.
