*R.E.P.O.*, the co-op horror game that took the PC gaming world by storm upon its February launch, has attracted over 200,000 players. However, fans eagerly anticipating a console release might be disappointed. As of now, *R.E.P.O.* is exclusively available on PC, and there are no plans to bring it to consoles.
Is R.E.P.O. Coming to Consoles?
The developer behind *R.E.P.O.*, semiwork, has not announced any plans for a console version. The team is currently focused on perfecting the game's multiplayer features, which have encountered significant challenges. A primary concern is preventing the game from becoming a breeding ground for cheats while maintaining support for mods, which is crucial to the community's experience.
"The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that," explained the developer in an interview with PCGamer. This statement underscores the complexities they face before even considering a console port.
While other PC-exclusive games like *Mouthwashing* have successfully made the jump to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, which simplifies the transition. Games like *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which share a similar premise of evading monsters, have also stayed PC-only. The developers of *Content Warning* mentioned last year they were exploring a console release but cited technical challenges, and there has been no further update since.
So, for fans wondering if *R.E.P.O.* will ever come to consoles, the answer is clear: the developer has not shown any interest in a console version and remains dedicated to enhancing the multiplayer experience on PC.
