Sonic Rumble is gearing up for a global launch, but it's already making waves with its first crossover event, dubbed Crossover Event #0: SEGA Stars. This exciting event is live now and will continue until May 7th, just before the game's worldwide launch on May 8th. Currently in soft launch, Sonic Rumble is available in over 40 countries and has seen two pre-launch phases. The first pre-launch occurred in Summer 2024 in regions such as the Philippines, Scandinavian countries, and Colombia, followed by the second in Canada, Turkey, Malaysia, South Africa, and more.
If you're lucky enough to be in a region where Sonic Rumble soft-launched last year, you can jump right into the SEGA Stars crossover. Fans of Altered Beast will be thrilled to see the Werewolf transformation available for free. For those who miss the classic beast modes, the Werebear and Weredragon transformations are also up for grabs. While the Werebear can be purchased with regular rings, the Weredragon comes with the Premium Pass.
Adding to the excitement, characters from Fantasy Zone, Opa-Opa and Upa-Upa, have joined the fray. Opa-Opa is exclusive to the Premium Pass, while Upa-Upa can be acquired through fragments, which you can buy with standard rings at 700 rings each.
Super Monkey Ball fans, rejoice! AiAi and MeeMee have rolled into the crossover. To get AiAi, you'll need to spend 729 Red Star Rings. For a closer look at what's in store, check out the event trailer below.
During the event, you can collect SEGA logos in matches to earn additional rewards. While it may seem unusual for the event to be live before the global release, SEGA has assured that most of these pre-release rewards will be available again post-launch.
This first crossover event showcases a delightful mix of SEGA's rich history, bringing together characters from Altered Beast, Fantasy Zone, and Super Monkey Ball alongside Sonic and his friends. It's a promising sign of what's to come with Sonic Rumble.
You can download the game from the Google Play Store if it's available in your region, or mark your calendar for the global launch on May 8th.
