Kojima Productions and Sony unveiled the much-anticipated release date for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (DS2) at South by Southwest (SXSW) on March 9, 2025, in Austin, Texas. The event kicked off with a captivating 10-minute trailer presented by DS2 Director Hideo Kojima. This trailer not only showcased new story elements but also provided fresh gameplay footage, reinforcing the game's theme of human connectivity in a post-apocalyptic setting.
Joining Kojima at the panel were PlayStation’s Global Content Communications Manager Kristen Zitan, and DS2 actors Norman Reedus, reprising his role as Sam Porter Bridges, Troy Baker, and the French Music Director and Designer Woodkid. The trailer introduced a new character, Neil, portrayed by Luca Marinelli, leading a mysterious faction. Hideo Kojima himself acknowledged this resemblance in an Instagram post from July 2020, noting that Marinelli, when wearing a bandana, strikingly resembles Solid Snake. This new faction, led by Neil, is set to play a significant role in the narrative of Death Stranding 2.
