Sega has unveiled the global launch date for Sonic Rumble. Discover when the game hits platforms and the rewards tied to its pre-registration milestones.
On April 9, Sega shared via X that Sonic Rumble will launch worldwide on May 8, 2025. A new trailer accompanied the announcement, showcasing exciting gameplay glimpses.
Sonic Rumble marks the series’ first multiplayer party game, where up to 32 players face off across diverse levels and challenges. Sega describes it as, “Players guide a Sonic series character through a toy world crafted by the notorious Dr. Eggman, navigating perilous obstacle courses and fierce arenas!”
As a free-to-play title, concerns about pay-to-win mechanics surfaced. Sonic Rumble Director Makoto Tase addressed this at Tokyo Game Show 2024 in September, telling Automaton, “We’re focused on a straightforward system where players can quickly purchase desired items for a fixed price, avoiding a gacha model with random odds.”
Shortly after the launch date reveal, Sega announced that Sonic Rumble crossed 900,000 pre-registrations. Each milestone unlocks in-game rewards to kickstart players’ adventures.
