Space Marine 2 Patch Reverts Nerfs After Fan BacklashWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is releasing hotfix 4.1 to address player concerns following the controversial Patch 4.0. The developers, Saber Interactive, have announced the creation of public test servers, slated for early 2025, to gather feedback before future updates.

Space Marine 2's Patch 4.0 Nerfs Prompt Urgent Reversal & Public Test Servers

Nerfs Reverted, Starting October 24th

Space Marine 2 Patch Reverts Nerfs After Fan BacklashPatch 4.1, launching October 24th, will undo the most significant balance changes introduced in Patch 4.0. This decision follows considerable negative player feedback, including review bombing on Steam. Game director Dmitriy Grigorenko stated that the team is responding to "the most pressing concerns" raised by the community. The introduction of public test servers aims to prevent similar situations in the future.

The initial nerfs in Patch 4.0 were intended to increase enemy difficulty by boosting enemy spawns, rather than health. However, this negatively impacted lower difficulty levels.

Space Marine 2 Patch Reverts Nerfs After Fan BacklashPatch 4.1 will revert enemy spawn rates for Extremis enemies on Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties to pre-Patch 4.0 levels. On Ruthless difficulty, these spawn rates will be significantly reduced. Additionally, player armor on Ruthless difficulty receives a 10% increase, and bots will inflict 30% more damage to bosses.

Hotfix 4.1 also includes substantial buffs to Bolt weapons, addressing their previous underperformance across all difficulty levels. The specific damage increases are as follows:

  • Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
  • Bolt Rifle: +10%
  • Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
  • Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
  • Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
  • Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
  • Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
  • Bolt Carbine: +15%
  • Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
  • Heavy Bolter: +5% (x2)

Saber Interactive will continue monitoring player feedback post-Patch 4.1 to ensure the Lethal difficulty remains appropriately challenging and rewarding.
