Hazelight's beloved co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has now sold nearly four million copies, a remarkable achievement confirmed by publisher EA in their latest financial results. EA praised the game as a "hugely successful launch," crediting it as a significant contributor to their strong finish in the 2025 financial year.
The developer, Hazelight, celebrated the news on social media with an enthusiastic post: "4 MILLION SOLD!!!! So many of you have picked up Split Fiction already, it’s amazing… Seeing the fun you have with our game and the love you show for Mio, Zoe, and each other warms our hearts here at Hazelight. And so many hot dogs made…"
Split Fiction immerses players in the imaginative worlds of two fiction writers, offering a groundbreaking co-op experience where only one player needs to own the game. Since its launch in March, it has rapidly become another hit for Hazelight and designer Josef Fares, achieving sales of over two million copies within just one week. The game is also set to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, as Hazelight begins development on their next project.
Adding to the excitement, a movie adaptation of Split Fiction is in the works, with Story Kitchen, known for the Sonic films, currently assembling a team of writers, a director, and a cast that will include Sydney Sweeney.
In our IGN Split Fiction review, we described the game as "an expertly crafted and absorbing co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," highlighting its innovative gameplay. We noted that it is "a rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles that are usually discarded as quickly as they’re introduced. This keeps it fabulously fresh for its full, 14-hour duration."
