Star Wars: Hunters, despite not even reaching its first birthday, will soon be shutting down. While it will technically celebrate its one-year anniversary before its demise, the question remains: is a farewell celebration for a dying game truly warranted?
When Will Star Wars: Hunters Shut Down?
The servers are scheduled to go offline on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of its short nine-month run. Players will have a few extra weeks to complete Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.
Zynga, the developer and publisher, will release one final content update on April 15th, introducing a new Support Hunter, Tuya, free of charge. In-game purchases will be disabled on the same day.
Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers close, and seasonal events will be re-run. Players are advised to spend any remaining Crystals, as refunds will not be provided.
A Predictable End?
While unfortunate, the shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters feels almost inevitable in hindsight. Multiple delays since its 2020 announcement, limited beta testing (SEA and ANZAC regions only), a lack of major console support, and a generally lukewarm reception all contributed to its demise.
The game's design choices also appear questionable. Instead of leveraging the iconic characters that define the Star Wars universe, Hunters opted for generic original characters, seemingly missing an easy opportunity for success.
If you're interested in a final playthrough before the game disappears, Star Wars: Hunters remains available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown.
