Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced a record-breaking year, with Stellar Blade generating $43 million in royalties. The PC version is projected to surpass the PlayStation 5 sales figures.
Game World Observer reports that Shift Up's 2024 financial report shows a 30.4% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $151.4 million. A significant portion of this, $43.2 million, comes directly from Stellar Blade royalties.
The success shows no signs of abating. Shift Up anticipates stronger PC sales than the console version, particularly within the Asian gaming market. They also plan to unveil their new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. However, this isn't the much-anticipated Stellar Blade sequel, despite the developer acknowledging consideration for a future installment in the franchise.
Project Witches was announced in 2024, shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 launch, preempting significant demand for a direct sequel.
Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, casts players as Eve, fighting unknown invaders to reclaim Earth. While receiving a 7/10 rating from IGN and achieving one million sales, our review highlighted its strong action gameplay, but criticized its underdeveloped characters, weak storyline, and frustrating RPG mechanics as preventing it from reaching the genre's pinnacle.
