Sydney Sweeney, renowned for her role in "Madame Web," is set to star in the upcoming movie adaptation of the popular video game "Split Fiction." The project is being spearheaded by Story Kitchen, the company behind the successful Sonic films, and has already assembled a formidable creative team. Jon M. Chu, the director of "Wicked," will helm the film, while the script is being penned by the dynamic duo behind "Deadpool & Wolverine," Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. As the talent package is now being pitched to Hollywood studios, anticipation is building for what is expected to be a competitive bidding war.
While Sweeney's involvement is confirmed, the specific character she will portray—either Zoe or Mio—remains undecided. "Split Fiction," developed by Hazelight and designer Josef Fares, has enjoyed significant success since its launch in March, selling over 2 million copies within its first week and being designated as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. IGN's review praised the game, awarding it a 9/10 and describing it as an "expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," highlighting its innovative gameplay and engaging style.

Hazelight's success isn't limited to "Split Fiction." The studio's other hit, "It Takes Two," which sold 23 million copies, is also slated for a film adaptation, with rumors swirling that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson may take a starring role. Despite the excitement, there's always the chance that these ambitious projects might not come to fruition. However, given the current wave of successful video game adaptations, Hollywood seems eager to capitalize on this trend.
Story Kitchen, meanwhile, continues to expand its portfolio of video game adaptations. Last year, the company announced a film based on Square Enix's "Just Cause," directed by Ángel Manuel Soto of "Blue Beetle" fame. Additionally, Story Kitchen is working on adaptations of "Dredge: The Movie," "Kingmakers," "Sleeping Dogs," and even a live-action Toys 'R' Us movie. As for Hazelight, the studio is already teasing its next game, keeping fans eagerly anticipating what's next.
