Nightdive Studios has exciting news for fans of the classic sci-fi horror genre. The studio has announced that the previously titled System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition has been renamed to System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. This updated version of the beloved 1999 action role-playing game is not only coming to Windows PC via Steam and GOG but will also be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and for the first time, on Nintendo Switch.
The game is poised to thrill players with its immersive narrative. Set in the year 2114, you awaken from cryo sleep aboard the FTL ship Von Braun, struggling with amnesia. The ship is overrun by hybrid mutants and deadly robots, and the remaining crew's desperate cries echo through its chilling corridors. The rogue AI, SHODAN, has seized control with a sinister goal to eradicate humanity. It's up to you to navigate the derelict ship deck by deck, uncovering the harrowing fate of the Von Braun and her crew as you strive to thwart SHODAN's deadly plans.
Gamers won't have to wait long to dive back into this suspense-filled adventure. Nightdive Studios plans to reveal the release date for System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster during the Future Game Show Spring Showcase livestream on March 20, 2025, where a new trailer will also be unveiled.
