A recent development update from The Chinese Room sheds new light on the vampire hunters in Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2. This faction, the Information Awareness Bureau (IAB), operates on a covert budget with no official government backing. Its agents pursue vampires, referred to as "Hollow Ones," while disguising their activities as "training exercises" and "counter-terrorism operations."
Agent Baker, the Seattle bureau chief, is a disciplined pragmatist committed to the permanent eradication of vampires. She meticulously analyzes anomalous events and historical records to uncover their links to the secretive vampire society. Her unquestioned authority has led her devoted subordinates to call her "The Hen."
The hunters are a tightly coordinated unit, securing their base from all angles. Confronting them solo is a formidable challenge; they work in teams, deploy spotlights, and maintain constant communication via portable radios. In combat, they employ thermal batons that circumvent defensive moves and phosphorus grenades to flush enemies from hiding. Their sniper crossbows fire explosive bolts that inflict catastrophic damage unless promptly removed.
However, these hunters are not invulnerable. Physically outmatched by ghouls and vampires, they can be countered with certain abilities. For instance, the Fire skill enables players to catch and throw back grenades or bolts in mid-air. Alternatively, the Ventrue clan's powers can be used to possess an enemy, turning them against their own squad.
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is slated for release in the first half of 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
