We're in the midst of what some might call a renaissance for video game adaptations. With recent successes like The Super Mario Bros. Movie, another Sonic the Hedgehog film, and acclaimed TV series such as The Last of Us and Fallout, the future looks bright. Excitingly, we're on the cusp of seeing even more adaptations, including God of War and Ghost of Tsushima. For our purposes, we define a "video game movie" or "TV show" as a direct adaptation of an existing game, not just a movie about video games like Wreck-It Ralph. The adaptations don't need to be strictly faithful to the original games; they simply need to be based on them.
