Wuthering Waves' elemental system has evolved significantly in Version 2.0. Initially, elements provided character buffs and enemy resistances, but lacked deep synergistic reactions. Version 2.0 introduces Elemental Effects, allowing for more direct interactions beyond passive buffs.
Elemental Status Effects and Debuffs:
While some elemental effects existed earlier (e.g., Glacio's freeze), Version 2.0 expands this mechanic. Each element now has a unique status effect:
| Elemental Effect | Effect Description |
|---|---|
| Havoc Bane | Stacks periodically, up to 2. At 2 stacks, deals Havoc DMG and reapplies to nearby characters. |
| Glacio Chafe | Reduces movement speed per stack, freezing at 10 stacks. Players can "Struggle" to hasten thawing. |
| Spectro Frazzle | Stacks decrease to deal Spectro DMG over time. More stacks = more DMG. |
| Fusion Burst | Stacks up to 10, exploding for Fusion DMG at max stacks. |
| Aero Erosion | Deals Aero DMG periodically; stacks don't deplete to deal damage. More stacks = more DMG. |
| Electro Flare | Reduces ATK based on stacks (1-4: -5%, 5-9: -7% + Magnetized effect, 10: -10%). |
Dodging removes all effect stacks.
Resonators, Echoes, and Echo Sets:
Currently, Elemental Effect utilization is limited. Only a few Resonators, Echoes, and Echo Sets interact with these effects:

Echoes and Echo Sets:

While limited now, the inclusion of Elemental Effects suggests future expansion of their role in Wuthering Waves' gameplay.
