Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have a new perk to enjoy: the ability to stream select games directly to their consoles without needing to download them. This exciting news was shared via an Xbox Wire post, announcing that members can now access games from the Game Pass catalog and certain owned games through cloud streaming on Xbox Series X, S, and Xbox One consoles.
Previously, cloud streaming was available on smart TVs, PCs, smartphones, and Meta Quest headsets, but this marks the first time the feature is extended to Xbox consoles. This advancement allows users to bypass lengthy download times and conserve valuable hard drive space.
To take advantage of this feature on an Xbox console, follow these steps:
- Go to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games.
- Games that support cloud streaming will show a cloud badge on their page. Use filters to locate them quickly by selecting Filter > Ready to play > Cloud gaming.
- Select the desired game and choose Play with Cloud Gaming to start streaming. You can also stream directly from the Store app after purchasing select cloud playable games.
Additionally, users can stream any game installed on their Xbox consoles to devices with supported web browsers using this link. Note that this feature is no longer supported on the Xbox mobile app but remains accessible on smartphones via the browser link. Xbox is also working to extend this feature to Samsung and Amazon Fire smart TVs, as well as Meta Quest headsets.
Starting this month, Xbox and Xbox 360 backward compatible games will also support remote play, enhancing the versatility and convenience of gaming on Xbox platforms.
