Zynga Unveils Letter Lock Feature in Words With Friends
May 14,2025Author: Riley
Zynga has just unveiled an exciting new feature for Words With Friends enthusiasts: Letter Lock. This eagerly awaited solo mode has been a popular request among players, and it's not the only update coming to the game. Dive in to discover all the new additions!
What’s Letter Lock in Words With Friends?
Letter Lock introduces a unique daily puzzle for single players. Unlike Wordle, where you type words, Letter Lock challenges you to slide columns of letters up and down to form real words in the entry row. As you successfully create words, additional columns unlock, allowing you to construct even longer words until you reach the puzzle's word-length goal. Be cautious, though—each incorrect guess depletes your hearts, and losing too many will end your game prematurely.
While Letter Lock differs from Wordle, it shares a similar feel with its quick, clever, and engaging daily word challenges. Get a sneak peek of Letter Lock in action in the trailer below.
The Game Is Trying to Keep Things Fresh
Yaron Leyvand, Zynga's executive vice president of mobile games, emphasized that Letter Lock was introduced in response to feedback from dedicated players. Introducing fresh gameplay mechanics is crucial for keeping the game vibrant and engaging for its community.
In addition to Letter Lock, Zynga is launching a Spring into Words event, packed with new daily puzzles and challenges. You can enjoy solo modes like Guess Word and Crosswords, along with spring-themed rewards, new Tile Styles, and other special events. If you're a word game enthusiast, don't miss out—download Words With Friends from the Google Play Store today.
