Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has achieved a remarkable milestone, selling 2 million copies within just 12 days of release—doubling its initial 1 million sales recorded three days post-launch.
Adding to its success, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 launched as a day-one Game Pass title alongside Bethesda’s Oblivion Remastered. This achievement is particularly noteworthy for French studio Sandfall Interactive and publisher Kepler Interactive.
"We’ve been amazed to see so many players embark on this adventure," the team shared on social media. "Experiencing every moment, every emotion, and every discovery alongside you has been incredible.

"Tomorrow awaits."
When Bethesda unexpectedly released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered alongside Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, many assumed only one RPG could dominate. Surprisingly, both titles found success.
Kepler Interactive noted that Oblivion’s release didn’t detract from Clair Obscur’s performance—instead, it revitalized interest in the RPG genre overall.
In an interview with The Game Business, Kepler’s senior portfolio manager Matt Handrahan explained: "Expedition 33 always had its own distinct identity. During my time in press, I observed how Western and Japanese RPGs cater to different audiences. Many Elder Scrolls fans might not engage with Final Fantasy, and vice versa.
"By launch, we’d built strong momentum and felt confident standing alongside Oblivion. Factors like our pricing and Game Pass inclusion ensured significant interest. The results surpassed our expectations—in fact, launching near Oblivion may have spotlighted quality RPGs that week, sparking broader genre discussions."
