Adding to its success, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 launched as a day-one Game Pass title alongside Bethesda’s Oblivion Remastered. This achievement is particularly noteworthy for French studio Sandfall Interactive and publisher Kepler Interactive.

During my time in press, I observed how Western and Japanese RPGs cater to different audiences. Many Elder Scrolls fans might not engage with Final Fantasy, and vice versa.

"By launch, we’d built strong momentum and felt confident standing alongside Oblivion. Factors like our pricing and Game Pass inclusion ensured significant interest. The results surpassed our expectations—in fact, launching near Oblivion may have spotlighted quality RPGs that week, sparking broader genre discussions."
