Dragon Age: Veilguard Surprise Free Weapon DLC Released After Months

May 18,2025 Author: Logan

BioWare has largely shifted its focus away from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but the dedicated team still working on the game has managed to surprise fans with a new DLC weapons pack. The RPG's Steam page was recently updated to include the Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer, a free add-on that has caught the community off guard, especially after EA hinted that future support for the game would be minimal. Despite the fifth patch in January promising to focus primarily on fixing game-breaking bugs, this new content feels like an unexpected gift, even if it's on a smaller scale.

The Rook’s Weapons Appearances bundle is exclusively available to current owners of the game and those who purchase it on PC by April 8, 2025. While there's no detailed description of what the bundle includes, players have discovered that it features a set of Watchful skins accessible in the Rook's in-game room. It remains uncertain whether this offer will extend to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of the game.

Feedback from the community has been mixed but generally positive. One Steam review noted, "Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever, they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!" Meanwhile, a Reddit user commented, "It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting newer content. I'll live with that."

Upon its release in October, Dragon Age: The Veilguard received positive reviews from critics but, according to EA, did not connect with a wide enough audience. Key members of the development team announced their departure from BioWare in late January, with many staff members either being laid off or reassigned to other projects within the company. At that time, EA informed IGN that the studio was now fully focused on the next Mass Effect installment.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard was added to the PlayStation Plus March 2025 titles just four months after its launch, and no further plans for its future have been disclosed.
