Fans eagerly awaiting the release of *Dune: Awakening*, the upcoming open-world survival MMO inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's films, will have to wait a bit longer. The game's launch has been postponed to June 10, 2025. Developer Funcom shared this update via social media, explaining that the delay stems from feedback gathered during their ongoing Persistent Closed Beta. They need "a bit more time to cook" and to implement crucial changes suggested by the community.
However, there's a silver lining for those impatient to dive into the sands of Arrakis. Players who opt for the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition can get early access starting June 5, 2025. Funcom also announced plans for a large-scale beta weekend next month, offering more players a chance to experience the game and provide feedback.
While the delay might disappoint some, Funcom is keeping the excitement alive with a combat livestream scheduled for today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This event will delve into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills, providing a deeper look at what players can expect.
Here at IGN, we're thrilled about *Dune: Awakening*. As we mentioned in our hands-on preview, "It's easy to be skeptical about an MMO survival game set in the Dune universe, but after a few bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that *Dune: Awakening* is one to watch."
