Elden Ring: Two New Classes Added in Nintendo Switch 2 Tarnished Edition

May 21,2025 Author: Christian

Elden Ring is set to make its debut on the Nintendo Switch 2 with the highly anticipated Tarnished Edition, bringing FromSoftware's expansive world to a new audience with some exciting additions. During the "FROMSOFTWARE GAMES EVENT Spring 2025" held in Tokyo on May 6, as reported by Famitsu, new details were unveiled about what players can expect from this version of the game. Notably, the Tarnished Edition introduces two fresh character classes: the "Knight of Ides" and the "Heavy Armored Knight." These classes come with unique appearances and are part of four new armor sets, two of which can be obtained in-game. Additionally, players can look forward to new weapons and skills to enhance their adventures in the Lands Between.

For those who have formed a bond with the spirit horse Torrent, there's good news: three new appearances for Torrent will be available. These aesthetic updates are included in the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which also encompasses the Shadow of the Erdtree content. Excitingly, FromSoftware has confirmed that these enhancements will be accessible on other platforms through the Tarnished Pack DLC, available at a budget-friendly price, as reported by RPG Site. This move ensures that all fans, regardless of their chosen platform, can enjoy the new content.

Introducing new classes is a strategic move, especially considering that many players will likely start fresh on the Switch 2. It offers an opportunity for both newcomers and seasoned players to experiment with different playstyles right from the beginning. Given that Elden Ring has already surpassed 30 million sales worldwide—a monumental achievement—it's clear that the addition of new content could drive even more interest and potentially increase those numbers further as the game launches on the Switch 2.

While no specific release date has been announced for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2 or for the Tarnished Pack DLC, fans can mark their calendars for a 2025 release. As anticipation builds, the gaming community eagerly awaits more details about this enhanced version of one of the most celebrated RPGs in recent years.
