Bloober Team, the studio behind the acclaimed Silent Hill 2 Remake, recently revealed a fascinating concept: a Lord of the Rings survival horror game. While the project never progressed beyond the concept stage due to licensing issues, the idea of a grim, Middle-earth-set horror game captivated fans and developers alike. The rich, dark elements within Tolkien's works offered ample potential for a truly terrifying experience.

Game director Mateusz Lenart, in a recent Bonfire Conversations podcast, shared this intriguing detail. He explained that the team explored the possibility of creating a survival horror title that would delve into the darker aspects of Middle-earth, immersing players in a chilling atmosphere.

However, securing the necessary rights proved impossible. Despite this setback, the potential of such a game, filled with frightening imagery of Nazgûl or Gollum, remains undeniable. Currently, Bloober Team's focus is on their new project, Cronos: The New Dawn, and potentially further collaborations with Konami on Silent Hill titles.
