Get ready, Pokémon GO trainers, because Halloween is creeping up, and Niantic has just released the details for Part 1 of the thrilling Halloween event. And yes, you guessed it—there will be a Part 2 as well, so stay tuned! This year’s event promises some spine-tingling features and spooky encounters that you won't want to miss.
The Halloween event in Pokémon GO will kick off on Tuesday, October 22nd, at 10:00 a.m. local time and will run until Monday, October 28th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. local time. So, make sure your Poké Balls are ready!
What’s In Store?
One of the highlights of this event is the debut of Morpeko, the Electric/Dark-type Pokémon, in Pokémon GO. Morpeko brings unique mechanics to the game, especially when you're battling Team GO Rocket or competing in the GO Battle League.
Morpeko's ability to switch between Full Belly Mode and Hangry Mode mid-battle adds an exciting twist. Depending on the Charged Attack it uses, Morpeko can transform. In Full Belly Mode, it can use Aura Wheel (Electric), a powerful move with 100 power that increases the user's Attack. Switch to Hangry Mode, and Aura Wheel becomes a Dark-type move but retains the same 100-power punch and Attack boost.
During the Halloween event, you’ll have a higher chance of encountering Morpeko in the premium track of the GO Battle League. After the event, Morpeko will remain available starting at Rank 16, though it will still appear more frequently on the premium side.
Happy Halloween In Pokémon GO-Style!
As always, Pokémon GO will enhance the spooky atmosphere with special holiday-themed décor. If you're a fan of the eerie Lavender Town theme, you're in for a treat—there will be a remix of the classic music playing every night during the event. Don't miss out on this hauntingly beautiful tune, and be sure to check out the Lavender Town video below!
Another exciting feature of the Halloween event is the introduction of Dynamax Gastly in one-star Max Battles. Alongside Gastly, you’ll also encounter Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble in these battles.
The free Timed Research will be available from October 22nd to November 3rd, focusing on Spiritomb and its 108 spirits. Completing tasks during this period will reward you with encounters featuring Halloween-themed Pokémon, including Spiritomb and Morpeko.
