Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Super Thin Design Revealed

May 22,2025 Author: Grace

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, its latest flagship smartphone, at the May Unpacked event. While it shares many similarities with the earlier 2025 Galaxy S25, the new model boasts a sleeker design that truly gives it an edge.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge closely mirrors the specs of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, including the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a high-resolution 200MP camera. The key distinction lies in its chassis, which has been slimmed down to an impressive 5.8mm thickness from the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This thinner profile also results in a lighter weight of just 163g, making it a more comfortable carry.

Despite its larger size, the Galaxy S25 Edge retains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the Samsung Galaxy S25, which is slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch display on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Given its slim and expansive design, durability is a primary concern. Samsung addresses this by upgrading to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, the real test will be its resilience against everyday pressures, like sitting on it in your pocket, rather than just surviving drops. Will it be enough to prevent a new "bendgate" scenario?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge also includes the advanced "Mobile AI" suite introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and further refined in 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables significant AI processing to be performed locally on the device, enhancing privacy. Nonetheless, many AI applications will still rely on cloud computing. Samsung's unique features, such as summarizing notifications and news articles, add a convenient touch for users interested in AI capabilities.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge start today, with the 256GB model priced at $1,099 and the 512GB model at $1,219. The phone is available in three stylish color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung is keen to assure users of the Galaxy S25 Edge's durability despite its slim design. Let's hope their claims hold up in real-world use.
