Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Star Wars: Outlaws will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, although it won't be a launch title for the new Nintendo handheld. Instead, fans will have to wait until September 4 for its release, a few months after the Nintendo Switch 2's debut on June 5.
If you haven't yet experienced Star Wars: Outlaws on PS5, Xbox, or PC, the game is set in the timeline between "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi." It follows the journey of Kay Vess, a small-time criminal who becomes the target of a cartel's death mark. Our review rated it a 7, describing it as "a fun intergalactic heist adventure with great exploration, but it’s hindered by simple stealth, repetitive combat, and a few too many bugs at launch."
Ubisoft kept details sparse, focusing mainly on confirming the release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 and reiterating its availability on the platform. This news helps update the Switch 2 Games List, providing some relief for American and Canadian gamers who are currently in pre-order limbo due to Nintendo's assessment of new tariffs introduced by the Republican administration.
The announcement came during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where Ubisoft also unveiled details about the second story pack for Star Wars: Outlaws, titled "A Pirate’s Fortune." In this add-on, Kay Vess allies with Hondo Ohnaka to confront Stinger Tash, the leader of the Rokana Raiders. "Star Wars: Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune" is set to release on May 15.
