Tony Hawk Aims for Underground Remake

May 19,2025 Author: Gabriella

If you've been yearning for a return to Tony Hawk's Underground, you're in good company — Tony Hawk himself is "campaigning" for a remake.

"I always have aspirations," Hawk shared with ScreenRant. "It's not up to me generally. I'll campaign all I can, but I'm working with a much bigger company that's a lot smarter than me."

When pressed about what might be next for Activision after the release of Pro Skate 3 + 4, Hawk remained tight-lipped, simply stating, "We haven't even released this game yet!"

Tony Hawk's Underground, which hit the shelves back in 2003, earned a stellar 9.2 review score from us at the time, praised for its "virtually flawless" level design and "stellar gameplay." It was groundbreaking for allowing players to dismount their boards and explore expansive levels on foot, a first for the series.

Play*Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4* is scheduled to launch on *Nintendo Switch 2*, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One on July 11, 2025. Activision is curating the official THPS 3 + 4 playlist on Spotify, regularly updating it as they unveil more of the song list — you can stay updated with the latest additions on our comprehensive soundtrack list.

"In an era where it seems like every game from the early 2000s is getting a modern facelift, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is poised to be a standout addition to a year packed with top-notch remakes and remasters," we noted in IGN's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 first impressions preview.

"From its faithful recreation of what made the PS2-era classics so memorable, to its modern quality-of-life improvements, an excellent soundtrack, and an overall homage to the series' early days, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is certainly something to keep on your radar if you're a fan of skateboarding, enjoy action sports games, or just want to play something that's straightforward and fun. It might just be the easiest kickflip you’ll land this year."
