Bloodmoon Island, a mysterious region located in the north of Reaper's Coast, is shrouded in intrigue and danger. The island is isolated from the mainland by a deadly veil of Deathfog, and the only bridge that once connected it to the coast is now destroyed, making traditional access impossible. Venturing to Bloodmoon Island not only deepens the main storyline but also unlocks a variety of engaging side quests.
However, the game offers little guidance on navigating the Deathfog to reach Bloodmoon Island, leaving players to scour Reaper's Coast for clues. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to reach Bloodmoon Island and advance the story in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Spirit Vision Shows The Way
Bloodmoon Island was once accessible via a bridge from Reaper's Coast, located northeast of Cloisterwood, near the areas inhabited by Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching the bridge, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. To proceed, cast Spirit Vision to reveal the broken sections of the bridge, which is segmented and partially trapped, adding a layer of challenge to the crossing. Fortunately, several tools and skills can facilitate this traversal:
Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired in the game's first act, these gloves allow teleportation without the need for the skill itself. Though time-consuming, they can be used to teleport each party member across the bridge.
Translocation Skills: Skills such as Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat enable teleportation, which is crucial for navigating the broken bridge. However, not all party members may possess these skills, necessitating alternative strategies.
Teleporter Pyramids: These artifacts allow warping between pyramids. To use them, place one pyramid in a companion's inventory, have them cross the bridge using translocation skills, and then warp the rest of the party to their location.
Fast Travel: Once a party member with translocation skills crosses the bridge and discovers the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, the rest of the party can fast travel to it, bypassing the need to cross the bridge.
Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog
For parties including Fane, an additional method to reach Bloodmoon Island is available. As an undead character, Fane is immune to the Deathfog. A pier northwest of Cloisterwood houses an undead ferryman who offers to transport your party across the Deathfog. However, this is a deceptive offer; all but Fane will perish during the crossing. If Fane travels alone, he can safely reach Bloodmoon Island, discover the waypoint, and allow the rest of the party to fast travel to him.
Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party
If your party does not include Fane but you still want to use the ferry, you'll need at least two Teleporter Pyramids:
- Unchain the party and place a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of the companion taking the ferry.
- The companion will die upon reaching Bloodmoon Island's pier.
- Use the second pyramid to warp the rest of the party to the dead companion.
- Revive the companion with a resurrection spell or scroll.
For parties without Fane, taking the bridge is the most efficient way to reach Bloodmoon Island.
It's advisable not to attack the Undead Ferryman, as he can retaliate with a Deathfog spell, causing instant death. If you choose to engage him, quick save first. Defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750 XP.
