The GTA 6 mapping initiative has accelerated dramatically following Trailer 2's release, with a lead contributor telling IGN: "This completely reshapes our roadmap for the coming months."
The dedicated GTA 6 Mapping Discord community, nearing 400 active members, is now meticulously analyzing every frame of Trailer 2 for geographical clues.
"The flood of new reference material fundamentally changes our approach moving forward," explained server moderator Garza. "We're just scratching the surface of what this trailer reveals about Leonida's layout."
The community project originated after 2022's massive leaks (which Rockstar may have subtly acknowledged in Trailer 2's opening sequence). Previously relying on leaks and Trailer 1, mappers now have substantially more official references to work with.
Project lead DuPz0r's latest map iteration (v0.049 from March 30) has already been rendered obsolete by Trailer 2's wealth of environmental details.

The trailer confirmed several key locations within Leonida (GTA 6's Florida-inspired setting): Vice City (Miami equivalent), the tropical Leonida Keys archipelago, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and the mountainous Mount Kalaga region bordering the northern territory.
Mapping volunteers are now cross-referencing in-game landmarks with real-world Florida geography, aiming to produce the most accurate fan-created rendition before May 2026's launch. DuPz0r will compile these findings into updated map versions.
The project operates under the shadow of potential intervention from Rockstar parent company Take-Two, which recently issued takedowns against a fan-made GTA 6 map mod. Garza acknowledges this risk but remains cautiously optimistic:
"We've operated for years without direct interference, likely because we generate legitimate hype without distributing copyrighted material. If we receive a cease-and-desist, we'll comply - but until then, we'll continue refining our approximation of Leonida's geography."
