Indie game developer Sander Frenken has unveiled his upcoming RTS-lite game, Battledom, currently in Alpha testing. This title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's successful 2020 release, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years, Battledom represents a refinement of Frenken's original vision for Herodom.
Battledom introduces dynamic RTS battle mechanics, granting players free unit movement across the map. Players directly target enemies and manually operate siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic depth is further enhanced by the implementation of various battle formations.
Players amass armies using in-game currency to recruit units. Initially, units are equipped with basic weapons and lack armor. However, strategic customization is key; players can equip units with an array of weapons and armor, each impacting stats such as range, accuracy, defense, and attack power.
Resource gathering and crafting are central to gameplay. Players collect resources like wood, leather, and coal within their village to craft items at various workshops, including the blacksmith and magician's quarters.
Frenken's previous work, Herodom, enjoys a 4.6 App Store rating. This tower defense game features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Progression unlocks new character customizations, crops, and farm animals.
iOS users can participate in the Battledom Alpha by downloading TestFlight. For updates and news, follow Sander Frenken on X (formerly Twitter) or Reddit. Additional games by Frenken are available on the App Store.
