Blizzard has announced that player housing will finally arrive in World of Warcraft in 2025, revealing initial details for this highly anticipated feature. Homes will be accessible to all players without restrictive prerequisites, steep costs, or random selection processes—and they'll remain permanently available regardless of subscription status. The complete housing system will debut with the Midnight expansion.
At release, players can claim plots in one of two faction-themed zones: Alliance supporters will settle in Elwynn Forest (blending influences from Westfall and Duskwood), while Horde players will develop properties in Durotar (incorporating elements from Azshara and coastal Durotar).
Each territory will feature multiple neighborhoods containing approximately 50 residences each. Players may choose between open communities or private enclaves shared exclusively with friends and guild members. The development team confirms extensive decoration possibilities—most obtainable through gameplay, with limited optional cosmetic items available via the shop.
The housing system rests on three core design philosophies: deep customization, social engagement, and persistent availability. Blizzard plans to share additional details in coming months and currently welcomes player feedback about this evolving feature.
