Sony and Firewalk Studios have unveiled the post-launch roadmap for their upcoming hero shooter, Concord, launching August 23rd. This detailed plan outlines the game's ongoing content updates and offers gameplay tips for optimal performance.
Concord's Content Roadmap: Beyond Launch Day
No Battle Pass Required
Concord, arriving August 23rd on PS5 and PC, will forgo the traditional battle pass model. Instead, Firewalk Studios prioritizes rewarding gameplay. Leveling up characters and completing objectives will provide meaningful rewards from day one. This decision aims to create a robust and engaging experience without relying on a monetized progression system.
Season 1: The Tempest (October 2024)
Concord's first major content drop, Season 1: The Tempest, arrives in October. Expect a new playable Freegunner character, a fresh map, additional Freegunner variants, and a host of cosmetic rewards. Weekly cinematic vignettes will enrich the game's narrative, expanding on the Northstar crew's story. An in-game store will also debut, offering purely cosmetic items that won't affect gameplay balance.
Season 2 and Beyond (January 2025)
Season 2 is already planned for January 2025, signaling Firewalk's commitment to consistent seasonal updates throughout Concord's first year. The developers promise a continuous stream of new content to keep the experience fresh and engaging.
Mastering Concord: Gameplay Strategies
Game director Ryan Ellis shared insights into effective gameplay. Concord's "Crew Builder" system allows for team customization with up to three variants of each Freegunner. This encourages diverse team compositions to exploit various roles (Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden) and unlock Crew Bonuses, offering advantages like enhanced mobility and reduced cooldowns. Unlike traditional hero shooter roles, Concord's Freegunners are designed for high damage output in direct combat, with their roles defined by their strategic impact on the match.
