Evidence Points to Potential Harakiri Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 1
A Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer has uncovered strong indications that the brutal fighting game may reintroduce Harakiri Fatalities under the "Quitality" mechanic.
Reddit user InfiniteNightZ shared footage showcasing what appear to be Harakiri animations - self-execution moves where defeated fighters perform their own fatalities. First appearing in 2004's Mortal Kombat: Deception, this fan-favorite mechanic might make a comeback.

Notably, these animations include recently added DLC fighters like Ghostface, suggesting developers may be actively working on implementing this feature rather than abandoning it. "Seeing them update the DLC roster with these animations makes implementation likely," InfiniteNightZ observed.
Potential Implementation as Quitalities
The dataminer noted these moves are labeled as "Quitalities" in the game files - a mechanic from previous titles where rage-quitting players would automatically suffer a fatal humiliation. "The coding references them as Quitalities, so there's still hope for their inclusion," the discoverer added.
Prominent dataminer Interloko subsequently uncovered additional Harakiri animations, though noted two characters (Omniman and Conan) currently lack these moves.
"Here are two more missing from the initial video. Currently only Omniman and Conan don't have animations. I haven't attempted triggering them in-game as I'm focused on my own project's demo."
Developer Silence Leaves Questions
While compelling, these findings remain unconfirmed by NetherRealm Studios or Warner Bros. Games. The discovery follows recent community excitement over secret content like the pink ninja Floyd easter egg and anticipation for the upcoming T-1000 guest character.
Mortal Kombat 1 continues evolving, with players eagerly watching for official announcements regarding these datamined features and potential future DLC.
