Capcom recently shared a pre-launch update for Monster Hunter Wilds, addressing console performance, weapon adjustments, and a significant reduction in minimum PC requirements. Let's delve into the details!
Monster Hunter Wilds PC Specs Getting a Boost
Console Performance: A Closer Look
The developers confirmed a day-one PS5 Pro patch, enhancing visuals. Their recent community update (December 19th, 9AM EST/6AM PST) revealed console performance targets. PS5 and Xbox Series X will offer "Prioritize Graphics" (4K/30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p/60fps) modes. Xbox Series S will run natively at 1080p/30fps. A framerate mode rendering bug has been squashed, resulting in improved performance.
While PS5 Pro enhancements are promised at launch, specifics remain undisclosed.
PC players will experience performance variability based on hardware and settings. While initial PC specs were previously announced, Capcom confirmed they're actively lowering the minimum requirements for broader accessibility. Further details are pending, with a potential PC benchmark tool under consideration.
A Second Open Beta?
The possibility of a second open beta is being explored, primarily to give those who missed the first a chance to play. However, this potential second beta will not include the improvements and changes detailed in the recent livestream; these will only be available in the final release.
The livestream also covered refinements to hitstop and sound effects for increased impact, friendly fire mitigation, and weapon adjustments, with special attention paid to the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.
Monster Hunter Wilds launches February 28th, 2025, on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
