Hype for a Bloodborne Remaster Fuelled by Instagram Posts
A Cult Classic Begging for a Modern Revival
Bloodborne, the critically acclaimed RPG released in 2015, has captured the hearts of gamers worldwide. Fans have been vocal about their desire to revisit the haunting streets of Yharnam on modern consoles. Although no official announcements have been made, recent Instagram posts from FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia have reignited the fervor surrounding a potential remaster.
On August 24, FromSoftware shared three images accompanied by the hashtag "#bloodborne." The posts featured Djura, a veteran hunter from Old Yharnam, and scenes of the player navigating through Yharnam and the eerie Charnel Lane graveyards. These images, while possibly a nostalgic nod, have sent Bloodborne enthusiasts into a frenzy, with many scouring social media platforms like Twitter (now known as X) for any hints of an upcoming remaster. The excitement was further amplified by PlayStation Italia's post on August 17, which showcased iconic locations from the game.
Translated, PlayStation Italia’s post reads: "Swipe to see some of Bloodborne’s most iconic locations! A journey through gothic atmospheres and dark mysteries. Which is your favorite?" The comments section under the post was filled with fans expressing their longing to return to Yharnam, with some playfully suggesting that the most iconic location would be on PC or modern consoles.
Almost a Decade Later, the Hunt for Bloodborne on Modern Consoles Continues

Originally released exclusively for the PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne has garnered a dedicated following and is often hailed as one of the greatest video games ever created. Despite its acclaim, the game has yet to see a sequel or a remaster.
The 2020 remake of Demon’s Souls, another FromSoftware title from 2009, serves as a hopeful precedent for a Bloodborne revival. However, fans are cautious, aware that Demon’s Souls took over a decade to be remade. As Bloodborne approaches its tenth anniversary, the anticipation for a remastered version grows.
In a February interview with Eurogamer, Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki hinted at the potential benefits of remastering the game for modern hardware. "I think having new hardware is definitely a part of what gives these remakes value," Miyazaki stated. "However, I wouldn’t say that’s the be all and end all. I think purely from a user perspective, modern hardware also allows more players to appreciate all the games. And so, it ends up being a simple reason, but as a fellow player, I think that accessibility is important."

Miyazaki's comments offer hope, yet the decision to remaster Bloodborne ultimately lies with Sony, as they hold the IP rights. In an interview with IGN, Miyazaki noted, "Unfortunately, and I’ve said this in other interviews, it’s not in my place to talk about Bloodborne specifically. We simply don’t own the IP at FromSoftware. For me personally, it was a great project, and I have a lot of great memories for that game, but we’re not at liberty to speak to it."

Bloodborne's passionate community continues to hope for a remake that would bring the game to new platforms. Despite its success and critical acclaim, the game remains exclusive to the PlayStation 4. Only time will tell if the speculations of a Bloodborne remaster will come to fruition.
