Swarm Faction Details Revealed by Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era Developers

Following the teaser reveal of the Swarm faction, the developers at Unfrozen Studio have delved deeper into the intricacies of this unique castle in *Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era*. They've shared insights into the inspirations behind the faction's creation, detailing the transformation from "Inferno" to "Swarm" and the unfolding events on the continent of Jadame.

The Swarm faction is distinguished by its remarkable adaptability to adversaries. Some of its creatures boast abilities that scale with the level of the opposing unit; the greater the difference between the Swarm unit and its target, the more devastating the damage. Other units, like mantises, offer tactical flexibility by allowing players to choose from three distinct abilities each round. Moreover, creatures such as worms and locusts can consume fallen corpses to heal and bolster their strength, a skill that can also be mastered by your heroes.

In *Olden Era*, the traditional demonic threat has been reimagined as an insectoid race, previously hinted at in *Might & Magic 8*. The developers have honored the original lore while injecting elements of body horror and occultism, transforming the Swarm into more than a mere insect colony—it's a cult devoted to a singular ruler. Each follower is a cog in a vast collective mind, driven solely by the will of their master.

The gameplay mechanics of the Swarm revolve around its "mono-faction" strategy—players gain significant advantages by deploying only Swarm units, which synergistically enhance one another. A unique feature is the ability to summon cocoons, whose durability scales with the army's overall size. Once hatched, the larvae become temporary combatants, enabling players to dynamically adapt to battlefield scenarios.

The developers have emphasized the Swarm’s aggressive playstyle: its creatures can not only heal and empower themselves by consuming corpses but also deploy abilities that shift according to the enemy's strength. This dynamic approach makes the faction a formidable force in direct confrontations, offering players a novel and engaging combat strategy.
